Raktanchal is a crime drama inspired by real-life events from the '80s of Purvanchal, Uttar Pradesh, at the time when the state development work was distributed through tenders. The criminal empire of Waseem Khan, the tender mafia is challenged by a young criminal Vijay Singh who is driven by vengeance.
Story: Set in Uttar Pradesh's Purvanchal of the 1980s, 'Raktanchal' is based on true events. It chronicles a bloody rivalry between Waseem Khan (Nikitin Dheer) and Vijay Singh (Kranti Prakash Jha). One driven by greed and the other by vengeance.
Review: Two powerful ganglords fighting over government tenders, elections and land, in the one of the most lawless states in 1980's India. The premise itself gives ample opportunity for a gritty crime drama and director Ritam Srivastav makes the most of it. The narrative revolves around Vijay Singh and Waseem Khan, who are constantly at loggerheads, leading to a series of bloodbaths.
